RWJFA Board Code of Conduct
The RWJFA Junior Football and Cheer Board of Directors (the Board) is committed to upholding the highest standards of conduct and ethics. This Code of Conduct serves as a guide to ensure all Board members act in a manner that fosters trust, respect, and integrity among each other, the athletes, parents, coaches, and the community we serve.
General Conduct
Respect and Integrity: Board members shall conduct themselves with the utmost respect and integrity at all times, both in person and in all forms of communication.
Professionalism: Board members are expected to act professionally, putting the interests of the athletes and the organization above personal interests.
Compliance: All Board members must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies governing the organization.
Responsibilities to the Organization
Leadership: Board members are responsible for providing strategic guidance and oversight to ensure the organization's goals are met.
Stewardship: Board members must act as stewards of the organization's resources, ensuring they are used wisely and for the benefit of the program.
Transparency: Decisions made by the Board should be carried out with transparency and communicated effectively to stakeholders.
Ethical Behavior
Conflict of Interest: Board members must disclose any conflicts of interest and abstain from voting on matters in which they have a personal stake.
Confidentiality: Members must maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information about the organization, its members, and its operations.
Fair Treatment: All individuals within the organization should be treated fairly and without discrimination.
Communication and Collaboration
Positive Communication: Board members should communicate in a constructive and positive manner, fostering an environment of collaboration.
Teamwork: The Board should work as a cohesive team, respecting differing opinions and reaching decisions through consensus when possible.
Conflict Resolution: Any conflicts among Board members should be addressed promptly and resolved in a manner that is respectful and constructive.
Social Media: Board members are expected to use social media in a way that reflects positively on the organization. They should refrain from posting content that could harm the organization’s reputation or conflict with its mission.
Accountability and Enforcement
Adherence to the Code: Board members are expected to adhere to this Code of Conduct and encourage others to do the same.
Reporting Violations: Violations of the Code should be reported directly to both the Board President and Vice President to ensure proper oversight and handling. In situations where the violation involves either the President or Vice President, the report should be made to the other officer, who will then be responsible for initiating an impartial review process. This ensures accountability at the highest levels and maintains the integrity of our governance.
Disciplinary Actions: Violations may result in disciplinary actions, including removal from the Board in severe cases. For disciplinary actions, the board will review as a group and vote on a decision.
